Canary Health® Achieves CDC Full Recognition Status For Its DPP Program, Prevent Diabetes®, (PD)
Los Angeles, CA (June 5, 2018)
Canary Health®, the leader in evidence-based, digital self-management programs which arrest the progression of chronic diseases, recently achieved CDC’s prestigious full recognition status for its Prevent Diabetes® DPP program, formerly known as Virtual Lifestyle Management® (VLM) service.
Dr. Neal Kaufman, Founder and Chief Medical Officer, Canary Health, and deeply rooted in patient advocacy, commented “We have been the pioneer in the delivery of digital interventions. Our program was the first ever to be offered to patients, becoming the first commercialized digital Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP). I’m proud to report we’ve improved the lives of over 45,000 individuals as the second largest digital DPP provider in the U.S.”
Canary Health programs have published studies and real-world experience demonstrating their positive impact on patients, both improving health outcomes and decreasing costs. Results have included not only preventing diabetes, but also improving outcomes for patients with diabetes (e.g., improved diabetes control, lowered depression, decreased low blood sugar reactions), realized with their Better Choices, Better Health® chronic disease digital therapeutics program.
“Obtaining this recognition from the CDC is especially gratifying to Canary Health,” said Adam Kaufman, CEO, Canary Health. “Many years ago we saw the need in healthcare to get ahead of diabetes and prevent it. We knew we needed to get the backing of the CDC to make this a mass reaching effort, so we advocated with the CDC for digital DPP recognition from the beginning, and maintain that advocacy to this day. We’re excited to see how our efforts laying the groundwork will now affect millions of lives positively.”
Achieving full recognition from the CDC validates that Canary Health’s digital weight management services (PD) is effective and conforms to the highest quality standards. It also demonstrates Canary Health’s ability to deploy PD successfully to large numbers of individuals, further validating the appropriateness of digital DPP programs to serve the Medicare population.
Canary Health, whose unique point of difference includes looking at a patient holistically, also offers their Building Better Caregivers® program, a digitally delivered program to assist loved ones caring for patients. They have assisted over 5,000 caregivers of veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Traumatic Brain injury.
